Movéo Launches Two New Database-Driven Web sites

OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL – Currently celebrating its 20th anniversary, Movéo Integrated Branding, a hybrid brand consultancy and communications firm, recently launched two highly interactive, dynamic Web sites — for Littelfuse, Inc. and Oaklee’s Guide.

Littelfuse, a global leader in circuit protection products and solutions, required a complete overhaul of their Web site. That redesign included significant work on the front end — the integration event-driven content, as well as AJAX and DHTML to enhance interactivity.

The revamped site also incorporates an entirely new search appliance, the Endeca Information Access Platform (IAP). Developed by Endeca Technologies, this new search functionality offers an array of advanced features, including automatic spelling correction, “did you mean?” thesaurus cross-referencing, guided navigation, and keyword- and navigation-triggered cross-promotion of products. Movéo also created industry-focused landing pages with visual/image-based navigation that gives users easy access to technical data.

“The redesign of Littelfuse.com was definitely a team effort,” said Dave Cannon, Director of Interactive Services at Movéo. “Not only did we completely revamp the aesthetics and critical functions of the site, but we needed to learn how to program and integrate Endeca as well. In the end, Littelfuse.com turned out even better than expected.”

Oaklee’s Guide is a source for information on family-friendly events, activities, businesses and entertainment in the Chicagoland area. Before the group began working with Movéo, it had only a basic Web site, primarily composed of text-heavy PDFs.

To better serve the Oaklee’s Guide audience, Movéo developed a clean, easy-to-use interface and added more advanced search functionality. The search functions use AJAX technology, which expedites calls to the database allowing for fast dynamic filtering of available search options as the user makes selections. Other tools Movéo implemented for Oaklee’s Guide include e-mail reminders of upcoming events, printer-friendly pages of coupons and calendars, click-through links that access Google Maps, and the availability of a “favorites” list. The new Web site also offers new revenue opportunities. Movéo integrated an inventory of saleable banner-advertising space into its design, which is supported by a third party ad server.
