Movéo Announces In-House Video Editing Capabilities

OAKROOK TERRACE, IL, – Movéo Integrated Branding, a branding and integrated marketing communications firm serving business-to-business and healthcare clients, announced today that it has added video editing capabilities to its full-service offering.

Until recently, video editing has required blazing processor speed, massive storage space, sophisticated editing software –– and the knowledge to use all three. This combination created significant barriers to entry, and as a result, a cottage industry of dedicated editing studios has prospered over the years.

However, the latest advances in chip sets and software developments have begun a quiet revolution that has enabled new players to edit video. One of the most significant advances is Final Cut Pro, a professional non-linear editing software developed by Apple that has found popularity with both independent filmmakers and Hollywood film editors who traditionally relied on more expensive (e.g., Avid) workstations for their editing.

Final Cut Pro can edit many digital formats and has found growing acceptance among professionals and a number of broadcast facilities because of its capabilities and cost efficiency. “Basically, this software logs and captures video onto a computer’s hard drive, where it can be edited and processed,” said Brian Davies, Managing Partner at Movéo. “Recently, the Coen brothers proved how powerful the software can be as an editing tool when they made No Country for Old Men.” That movie, which won Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, is the first film edited with a completely digital workflow (on a Mac) to win the Oscar.

The benefits to Movéo’s clients are clear –– instead of working with multiple specialty resources, clients can work with a firm that understands not only what they want to achieve strategically and tactically with video, but can also offer the added benefit of less expensive editing.

“We believe video has a huge future on the Internet in the B2B sphere. As broadband has become ubiquitous and video compression has improved, the last major obstacle to large scale deployment has been production cost,” said Davies. “Movéo’s new in-house editing capabilities will help our clients keep production costs lower, making video a more feasible communication medium for their mix.”
